The inaugural Bright Ideas 5K Run/Walk was a huge success with the cooperative raising nearly $30,000 which was twice its original goal. Over 300 participants registered to take on the mixed terrain course that wound its way through the black water swamp at Cypress Gardens. Runner Shannon West established the course record with a winning time of 19:14. Berkeley Electric opened applications to teachers for the Bright Ideas Educational Grants ton May 1. Individual teachers can receive up to a $1,000 grants, while teams can receive up to $1,500 to fund their innovate classroom projects. Deadline to apply is June 30 and the application can be completed on the cooperative's website under the "My Community" heading.
